When can I rent a boat?
The boat hire service is available from March 1st to October 10th, 7am-7pm.
Spring and Autumn are weekends only, but in Summer we are available 7 days a week. (Please NOTE, you need to book in advance to avoid disappointment, weekday boat hire sessions need to be be booked a day in advance).
What type of boats?
Lake boats are available as rowing boats, or with 4hp outboard engines, hire rate includes lifejackets and fuel.
Can we get a guided boat trip, or are the boats self drive?
The boats are self drive, they are safe and easy to use, we provide on the spot training / instruction to make you comfortable with operating them.
Who can rent a boat?
Anyone over 18 yrs once they produce driver license or passport ID prior to departure.
Is this activity suitable for children?
Yes the boats are safe for children of 2 years upwards, but must be accompanied by an adult, the person in control of the boat must be over 18 yrs. We have lifejackets for children and toddlers.
Where do I get a life jacket?
We provide life-jackets, which you must wear at all times.
Can I go out at night or keep the boat overnight?
No, the boats must be back at base before dark.
Are we allowed swim from the boat?
No, for safety reasons.
How many people can go on a boat?
5 adults, though if you’re fishing 3 is enough to comfortably have enough room.
Can I rent fishing gear?
No. sorry. we don’t have fishing gear for rent?
What kind of fish are in Lough Ennell?
Brown Trout, Pike and Perch. Lough Ennell is one of the few lakes in Ireland which has 100% wild fish, it presents a challenge for the keen angler, though not as easy to fish as other “stock fish” lakes.
Do I need a fishing permit / where can i get a fishing permit ?
Fishing Permits are compulsory on Lough Ennell, you can buy a permit online at Inland Fisheries Ireland website.
